CALVARY CHAPEL CANEILLE HAITI HISTORY & VISION “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14 THE VISION The mission is three-fold: - Proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ
- Teach the Word of God
- Demonstrate the love of Jesus
Bastia has a passion to faithfully teach the word of God. Something misunderstood about Haiti is the source of their poverty. It is not poverty of food, but poverty of the written Word of God which has made Haiti the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. Voodoo, which has been declared the official religion of Haiti has a tremendous influence in people’s thinking and behavior that leads them into poverty. People may sell everything they have and give away all their money to witch doctors. Haiti will genuinely be changed only by the Word of God. Calvary Chapel desires to facilitate visits by individuals and ministry teams with different emphases such as evangelism, Bible studies, worship, health care, education, construction projects, children/adult ministry, etc. SCHOOL OF GRACE In September of 2006, School of Grace opened with grades one through three providing free education for those who formerly had no opportunity to attend school. The plan is to add one additional grade each year until the completion of primary education. The school is another way to reach the community with the gospel. CHURCH CONSTRUCTION The present church is an open structure without walls consisting of a metal sheet roof held up by wooden posts. The foundation for a church building is partially completed. The church will provide a much needed meeting place for the church body. In addition, it will double as a large meeting area that will be able to host outreaches such as Bible conferences, medical clinics, Vacation Bible School, etc FUTURE PLANS Future plans include having a medical clinic on site to meet health care needs and to make health care more accessible to the community. A radio station is another desired future outreach that would be instrumental in reaching the illiterate community with the gospel and the teaching of the word. If you have questions or desire to be involved, we would love to hear from you! More than anything, we would appreciate your prayers on behalf of those in Haiti who have not had the opportunity to hear and grow in the Word and for us as we minister God’s love and truth.
